First annual Family Day programs organized by Virginia Discovery Museum, Light House and the Thomas Jefferson Center for Free Expression
AT CITY COUNCIL CHAMBERS
International short films for kids, programmed by Kids First
Free program, but space is limited, tickets are availible at the Museum
starting at 10 am.
The Tillamook Treasure
10:30 am Recommended for ages 8 - 80
A walk by the seashosre takes a girl on the first step of an amazing
journey in this family-friendly drama. This film took the prize as the
Best Family Feature at the 2006 Newport Beach Film Festival.
For the Oysters and Girl Stars
4:00 pm recommeded for ages 8 - 14
Per Hoi Nang Rom (For the Oysters, 34 minutes) is the sweet
and heart-breaking story of Wenai, a boy whose impoverished
mother leaves hiim in the care of his grandmother. Shown with
Girl Stars: Anita The Beekeeper. Anita Kumari is a beekeeper
in Bihar, India, who keeps bees to pay for her education.

Kids up to 12 years old are invited to drqaw a picture inspired by
their favorite movies. Prizes will be given.

With live music and original songs composed and sung by
Charlottesville children. $1 admission for children under 12.
AT THE VIRGINIA DISCOVERY MUSEUM
10 AM - 1 PM
In the Open Studio, Light House will be filming families who would like to participate in their light-hearted documentary about family and home.
