Dear Party Parents,
We are delighted that you have chosen the Virginia Discovery Museum to host your child's party. Our two-hour parties include:
Exclusive use of our Party Room
Helium balloon for each child
Plates, forks, cups, napkins
and the opportunity to explore the Museum!
We provide you with an assistant to greet your guests, lead the themed party group activities, and set up and clean up the party room. We must ask you to limit your guest list to 20 children and a maximum of 30 total guests, including adult chaperones, due to our limited space. Adult supervision at parties is required: 1 adult per 3 children for children 3 & under, and 1 adult per 5 children for children 4 & up.
As host of the party, you are responsible for:
-Arriving ten minutes early.
-Supervising the party guests during playtime in the Museum galleries.
-Remaining until every guest has been picked up by an adult.
We require at least one adult for every three children under the age of four and one adult for every five children ages four and up. Adult chaperones are admitted free. Deposits are refundable until two weeks before the party date. Non-Members may hold Themed or Private Parties at the Virginia Discovery Museum for an additional $25 fee. PARTY THEMES
These party themes offer your child a more focused topic catered to their interests. An engaging instructor will provide the specific atmosphere for each party theme.
Music Party: (Ages 4 to 7)
Fill your child’s birthday with the sound of music! Make a musical instrument, hear a
music–themed story and enjoy an age-appropriate musical game or activity.
Dinosaur Party: (Ages 4 to 7)
Welcome to the Jurassic Period! Be a junior paleontologist and go on a hunt for dinosaur bones. Make a dinosaur mask, hear a dinosaur story and enjoy other age-appropriate dino activities.
Princess/Prince Party: (Ages 4 to 7)
Come dressed in your finest princess/prince attire and make your own crown and wand. Hear a prince or princess story and enjoy other age-appropriate games and activities!
Pirate Party: (Ages 4 to 7)
Ahoy, there, Matey! Come learn to walk, talk and dress like a pirate! Make a pirate hat and a parrot puppet, then follow clues throughout the Museum that lead to a hidden treasure chest. Arrgghh!
Themed parties are $150.00 for up to ten children. Each additional child is $8.00. Themed Parties are only scheduled during afternoon timeslots.
Private Party
The party room is available for your private use for 2 hours as well as our fun and engaging galleries. Paper products (plates, napkins, silverware & cups) are included as well as a balloon for each child. We provide you with an assistant to set up the party room, greet your guests, and clean up afterwards.
Private parties are $100.00 for 10 children. Each additional child $5. Private Parties can be scheduled in either morning or afternoon timeslots.
