the Museum designs an exhibit entitled Freedom of Expression which is featured in the
Virginia Association of Museums magazine and on Charlottesville Inside Out on WHTJ
Public Television.
In May the Museum ends a year-long celebration acknowledging 20 years on the
Downtown Mall during which 885,000 visitors were welcomed.
The Museum creates a Wall of Honor to display letters of commendation from the
Governor, Senators, Virginia Delegates, Congressman, the City of Charlottesville,
Albemarle County and the American Association of Museums.
Friends of the Museum, a group formed by members wishing to promote the Museum
in our community, hosts two evening receptions to introduce Museum supporters to
new exhibits.
In conjunction with a new exhibit entitled It’s Easy Being Green, the Museum adopts
many “green” practices and uses environmentally-friendly products.
The 20th annual Discovery Dash serves as the final leg of a Triple Crown series which
includes The Run for Autism and The Family Fitness Run.
Several local artists present individual shows of their work in our art gallery space.
