Come celebrate with the Virginia Discovery Museum! Have a party at the Museum for a birthday, holiday, school break, or just for fun!
Parties may be scheduled Saturday, 10:30 am - 12:30 pm or 2 pm - 4 pm. Parties may also be held Sunday, 2 - 4 pm. Themed Parties may only be scheduled during the 2-4 pm time slots.
Maximum number of party guests is 20 children, 30 total guests including adults. Adult supervision at parties is required (for children 3 & under, 1 adult per 3 children and for children 4 & up, 1 adult per 5 children).

Your two-hour party will include:
- the use of our private party room
- a Museum staff party assistant
- a helium balloon for each child
- time to explore the Museum
- plates, cups, forks and napkins
Available Party Themes
-Dinosaur Party: Welcome to the Jurassic Period! Be a junior paleontologist and go on a hunt for dinosaur bones. Make a dinosaur mask, hear a dinosaur story and enjoy other age-appropriate dino activities. (Ages 3-7)
-Princess/Prince Party: Come dressed in your finest princess/prince attire and make your own crown and wand. Hear a prince or princess story and enjoy other age-appropriate games and activities. (Ages 3-7)
-Pirate Party: Ahoy there, Matey! Come learn to walk, talk and dress like a pirate! Make a pirate hat and a parrot puppet, then follow clues throughout the Museum that lead to a hidden treasure chest. (Ages 3-7)
-Music Party: Fill your child's birthday with the sound of music! Make a musical instrument, hear a music-themed story and enjoy an age-appropriate musical game or activity.
Themed parties are $150 for up to 10 children and $8 for each additional child. A $50 deposit is required at the time of registration.
-Private Party: The party room is available for your private use for 2 hours as well as our fun and engaging galleries. We provide a staff person to help you greet your guests, set up and clean up the party room. You are free to bring food and activities of your choice for your special party!
A private party is $100 for 10 children, each additional child $5. A $50 deposit is required at the time of registration.
