Highlights
- VDM was the only children’s museum in Virginia to host the Smithsonian Exhibition: New Harmonies: Celebrating American Roots Music. To support this exhibition, the Museum organized 16 musical programs/events including a Meet the Musician and Kids Concert Series, and a Gospel Brunch.
- The Museum created a Spanish language visitor guide and membership materials.
- C-ville Weekly readers chose the Museum as the Best Kids’ Entertainment venue for the 4th time in 5 years.
- The Museum created a Facebook page and blog in addition to a website.
- The inaugural family music festival, Discoveroo, took place on May 3.
- The Museum installed two new permanent exhibits: The Treehouse and the Machine Workshop.
- The Museum began a year-long celebration of its 20th anniversary on the Downtown Mall.
