What is Blue Star Museums?
Blue Star Museums is a collaboration among the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, the Department of Defense, and more than 2,000 museums across America. This national program grants free general admission to the Virginia Discovery Museum during the summer for active-duty military personnel in the U.S. Armed Forces (Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Space Force, and Coast Guard), Reserve, National Guard, U.S. Public Health Commissioned Corps, and NOAA Comissioned Corps and up to five family members. VDM also extends this benefit to military retirees and veterans.*
*Note: Eligible visitors must present a Common Access Card (CAC), a Next-Generation or Legacy Uniformed Services ID Card (USID), or veteran ID card to participate.
Parking: First Hour Free at Market Street Garage and Water Street Garage. Museum Visitors May Request Validation for a Second Hour of Free Parking at Both Garages When Checking In at VDM.
