Exploration Through Play

The Virginia Discovery Museum is currently closed for general admission in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, but our fully vaccinated staff is excited to reopen our doors for regular visits starting Sep. 7, 2021. The Museum follows a free-flowing, single-floor layout comprised of two main galleries and maintains 15 hands-on educational play areas over 6,000 square feet of exhibit space. Each exhibit is designed to engage children cognitively, physically, and socially, and our staff seeks to foster an environment in which children learn through exploratory and imaginative play and collaborative problem-solving. Please note that Amazing Airways, Flight Lab, and Creation Station are currently closed due to COVID restrictions.
